MLS vs Original Head Gasket?
Hi guys I'm suspecting HGF on my 414, losing water weekly and starting to missfire and stutter little.
I did the HG last year with a new MLS but I didn't have the head reskimmed because its been done 2 times before and I was told it had no more height left for a 3rd skim so I thought id risk it. I imagin this is why its failed again as I believe MLS needs a perfectly flat surface, correct me if I'm wrong...
So, my question is should I get a new head from a breakers yard and skim it with another MLS or should I stick with my head and go with one of those original gaskets with the rubber type seals? My reasoning behind the latter is that I think I may be able to get away without a skimmed perfectly flat head surface as the rubbery gasket should flex enough to give a good seal, again correct me if I'm wrong on this.
Thanks for your time.
