MOT passed?No? Yes!

That time of year again- no problems serviced 3weeks ago, checked all the lights and warning lamps everything fine. Took the car to my garage/mechanic( family concern known for years). They dont do MOT but use the same MOT testStation for all vehicles. 2pm today rang to see if car was ready. Failed!!Rear nearside bearing- dangerous to drive!! Car picked up by mechanic, onto his lift so suspension drops and wheel can be spun, yes noise but not bearing but the tyre rubbing against suspension spring when wheel has no weight on it and suspended. Conversation by phone between the experts and reference made to inability to recognise bearing failure, back to MOT station and they admit they were mistaken! and MOT issued. For reference; New Rover 6spoke alloy 16" wheels with 205 x55 Brauvaris 2 91H fitted June 2011 at 87000miles now at 109468miles, these replaced 15" 7spoke Rover fitted with 195x 65 Firestones. Oviously when the car is on the road the tyre does not rub in driving. One to note perhaps. if changing wheels. Not a lot of room under there? Chris S.
