OAT Anti-Freeze A No Go For older Gasket!

Just thought id share some info i learned from a friend in the trade and also i done some research online to back it up.

Some OAT (pink) Anti-Freeze contains something called 2-ethylhexanoate or in short 2-EHA. this has been found to affect gaskets made of rubber and silicone so using it with the older type head gasket is gunna be a big no no!

Quote

"2-ethylhexanoate (2-eha) is a cost-effective but controversial additive that softens plastics, particulary silicone, leading to leaks from affected sealing materials, which means that silicone cannot be used in gaskets, o-rings and hoses if the anti-freeze contains 2-EHA"

Makes you wonder how it must effect inlet gaskets and water pump gaskets too...

Heres just one of many links to show the situation..
