Rover 75 SE/2.0 Diesel

Hi all I am looking to buy a rover 75 se or 2.0L diesel. I have been told there a bugger for water pumps, fuel pumps and head gaskets.Can any one say if this is true. Also what are they like as a normal everyday car. As i am loooking at the estate for film extra work and 1940s events.
