slight cough/splutter

Hi folks, my zr 1.4 has been going fine, only last few days it has developed which i can only explain as a slight cough/splutter now and again. It starts and goes fine and this happens whilst going along and lasts just a second at most, go along for another mile or so and it will do it again. it is due a service in the next few weeks and just thought of any ideas. cheers.
