Spare wheel question

Whilst poking around under the bonnet I took my spare out for the first time the other day and am now a bit puzzled by it. it is a 16" 11 spoke with a full size goodyear tyre on it BUT it is black not silver and has a sticker on it saying max 50mph like a space saver does? is that correct is this wheel made out of chocolate even though it is the same size as the fronts?
