To remove the centre silencer or not?
I have been thinking about doing this since about December 2012 when I had my mk1 25. I once started up my mk1 durring a centre section swap to see how it sounded with just Cats and the rasp was awesome.
I currently have a 160 back box on my mk2 and recently with a tank high octane fuel I noticed rasps at high revs.
This has again put the idea in my head of removing the centre section to produce raspy notes in the high revs under hard acceleration. However I would like to know how loud it would be.
I don't really want the car very noisy and making my ears feel like they are bleeding on motorways or waking up everyone in a mile radius when I start the ol' girl in the mornings. Just want the rasp notes.
My idea was instead of spending three times the money on a pre made 'race tube' I could either buy a diesel centre section and change the flange on the Cat side or cut out the centre box on my exhaust.
The problem with the diesel centre section is that the bore is larger and I don't know if I would loose power and the problem with the latter option is I can't swap back if I don't like it.
All advice , experiences and opinions (unless you are just being a massive male chicken) are welcome.
