What are these electronic boxes for?

Removed the centre tunnel as gear leaver needed tightenign up and am changing the interior to the Tan one from the other VVC and found these:-

Got to see if it's connected up as I have a odd feeling that some oen has filled over the LED in the face of the instrument front.
