As opposed to Head gasket Failure....
Before I get started I want to say that I am well aware of the Head Gasket issues of ZRs. But it is just to easy to blame Head Gasket every time. So I wanted to get some opinions on what could be the cause of certain symptoms if it isn't HGF.
So for some time now my car has been losing coolant, like about half a litre a month. This has gone on for over 2 years with no power loss or over heating problems whatsoever. I had begun to suspect the Inlet Manifold Gasket. That would make sense and the car is booked in to have it looked at/changed next week.
Until the last month or so there has never been any cream deposits in oil, under oil filler cap or in the rocker box. But about 4-5 weeks ago I noticed quite a little under the cap and then looking inside there is quite a bit in the rocker box.
Obviously I am now quite worried that maybe it is HGF. However there is definitely no oil in coolant, no pressure gases in coolant, I had a sniff test done about 6 months ago and it showed nothing (car losing coolant for 2 years, so 6 months is not that long ago) the coolant loss has never got any worse.
I should point out that I only drive the car on 6 trips per week and the distance of each trip is 7 miles.
So if it isn't HGF (and I know it might be) could it be simple condensation and the coolant loss just a co-incidental IMG failure
could an IMG failure itself cause the rocker box to become condensated?
Like I say, apart from the obvious HGF, is there anything else that could explain these symptoms?
