Electrical problem?

Firstly never posted on a forum of any kind so this is a bit of a new experience for me.

I'll get straight to it.

My car is an 04 MGTF 135 showing 68500 miles. I've had her 12 months only non standard part is cat back TT Mk7 stainless exhaust and head gasket upgrade.

Just last week had annual service.

So now the problem

Yesterday drove 10 miles stopped to fuel up on restart it was as if it had suffered fuel evaporation and a flat battery. Turned over slower than normal and wouldn't fire. On the second go fired up give it a blip on throttle all seemed normal. Drove 1/2 mile and Speedo needle dropped to 0 then back up to speed two or three times then settled on 0. Then the rev counter did the same. Within 20-30 seconds the red steering wheel light started to flash then went solid red. Then the srs light came on and the steering wheel light gradually faded out. While this was all happening I'm still driving about 50mph. At this point indicators still function. I continued toward home and about a mile from home had to turn at junction no indicators and steering has no power assistance. Got home tried to raise Windows and they went up very very slowly. Switched it off and left it. 5 mins later came back to start her and on turning the key the whole dash light up like a Christmas tree and nothing completely dead not even a click. Went back after an hour tried again turned over slow twice then click click click from starter. Left it for 3 or so hours went back again and it started as normal all lights power steering Windows working perfectly. I initially thought alternator but I've had no signs it was failing or has failed battery is new and strong. I'm a little lost as where to start to find out the cause and fix it.

Apologies if it's long winded and any help. Would be great. Should also say my mechanic has gone on hols and won't be back until mid June hence why I'm trying to fix myself with your help.
