How to wire in after market parking sensor?
Hi guys,
Have finally got round to fitting the RAC parking sensor (foil strip inside back bumber), and the only thing I have to do now is wire this into the reversing light feed.
Rather than chop into the loom to the rear light cluster and use chocolate strip, I'm thinking I could "open" the connector block on the end of the loom that "plugs into" the rhs rear cluster, shove the sensor wires in, then close the connector.
Hopefully, this would "crimp" the new wires in - if not, I can twist them onto the existing pins (allowing the pressure of the closed connector to hold them in place), or ultimately solder them direct to the pins (which I'm a bit loathed to do, in case the solder makes the pins too thick to go in the block).
So, my questions are:
1. Any better ways to get a reverse and ground feed, without cutting into the loom?
2. How does the rear light cluster connector "open"? I'm assuming this will be some "clip" on the block somewhere?
3. Anyone opened this before - is it lightly to snap or fall to bits; anything to be wary of?
Bank holiday here today - one of my list of things to get done today hopefully! ;)
Thanks and enjoy your bank holiday!
