Must be central locking week - locks worn?

As I commented in the title, must be central locking week.

For a while now, my M2 ZR160 has been dodgy to open. Push the button and nothing happens. I asked about it once and it was suggested it might be the receiver however, as things have progressed, I'm now suspecting the door locks themselves.

Here's the deal.

Pektron central locking and security.

New key fobs, properly programmed by a company with the correct software.

New batteries in said key fobs.

It started with the car just refusing to unlock on the first try every now and then. Then after a few tries it would unlock. That was a couple of months ago.

It progressively got worse and I discovered that if it was giving trouble, and I unlocked it with the key, then locked it immediately with the fob, it'd unlock with the fob quite happily.

I'm of the understanding that you need to unlock it with the fob or all sorts of security things happen like sirens and immobilisers and big hungry dogs ... though I'm not exactly sure if this is true. Can someone please clarify.

After a few weeks of that nonsense, I started to notice that the lock felt hard to unlock with the key, as though it was catching. This has become harder till today, it damned near refused to unlock with the key.

I'm postulating that one or more locks has worn and is jamming when I trigger the central locking with the key fob, thus appearing as though the central locking hasn't worked. Has anyone heard of this happening? If so, where do I start looking and what do I look for?
