Parking with the top down

What is the general consensus of opinion about parking with the top down? The last 4 times I've been out I've parked in pay & display car parks (Portland Bill, Hayling Island, Virginia Water and Lee-on-the-Solent) for a couple of hours with the top down, without any problems but 'her indoors' will always ask if it's safe? I leave the windows wound up & (obviously) 'dead' lock the doors and 'jam' the ticket between the cowling & the windscreen so it won't blow away. Am I alone or a nutter?
