Rover 25 Ignition Issues

Hi Everyone!



First time posting here, so apologies for any faux-pas!



I got my Rover 25 1.4L, 53 Reg. in January and there wasn't any issue with starting it until quite recently.



When I turn the key in the ignition (which is quite stiff for any ignition might I add), I can hear the engine attempting to start (like a tapping/clicking sound) but it doesn't turn over. It does this for up 10/15mins before it will eventually start. It's had me worried more than a few mornings when I've been late to work because of it.



It's not the battery as I recently bought a new one, and a garage I took it too reckons it's because of a clogged electrical barrel behind the ignition switch that's faulty, and quoted me £120 to replace/fit it.



I mainly want to make sure that this is the most likely problem, and that the garage isn't taking me for a ride. Don't really want to part with £120 at the best of times, let alone if it's not going to fix the problem!
