Rover 800 windows and sunroof issues

My Rover has developed the following problem. Sometimes the sunroof and both the electric side windows ( only 2, its a coupe) dont work and other times they do. Its completely random.

There is obviously some common link , as all 3 either work or dont work, so I suppose that rules out the switches ( 3 in total ie passenger side window switch, drivers side double switch for both passenger and drivers window and centre console switch for sunroof in either position, open or tilted )

The problem is this can either leave you stifling hot in the car with everything shut ( and cant open) in hot weather , or potentially very wet if windows and sunroof all or singly open and wont close.

Is there a common connection somewhere on the vehicle or in the fuse box . I'm a bit nervous about whipping out the whole fuse box and resoldering everything especially as there is an airbag fuse that says dont remove ( Mmm!)

Anyone had this particular problem and achieved a simple fix ?
