seat cable replacement

The cables changed part numbers in 2000 and the part that attaches to the tilt lever is slightly different .Can anyone confirm that you can use a later cable on a pre 2000 reg car or vice versa ?

The seat frame for pre 2000 is NLA ,you have to use the post 2000 frame but Rimmers say nothing about changing cables if you do this .
