whats the black cap

Hi guys



Taking off the cam cover of my mg tf 2004 to replace the gasket.. i have removed the two ht leads and coil packs was just wondering what is the little black cap thing in the top corner of the cam cover? Its bolted down.. do i need to remove this too or leave it alone?
