ZR105 - Excessive Fuel Consumption
Hi All,
My missus has a '02 105.
Over time, the performance has deteriorated to the point whereby a 19 stone teenager on a Honda 125 can out accelerate it!
I know the performance of the 1.4 is hardly earth shattering, but prior to this one, missus had a 214Si and that was more lively!
At 60mph in top gear, nearly 50% throttle is needed to keep it up to speed.
I've plugged my cheap fault code reader in and no codes stored. No EMS warning light.
I did notice this morning, that when I started it from cold after a few seconds, the engine note changed. It was giving a slight chug chug chug, like if you gave a carbed car too much choke. That didn't ought to be happening!
I've checked the air filter, that's not clogged. Nothing abnormal coming from the tailpipe. I haven't had the chance to pull the plugs yet and check what colour they are.
My suspicion is that there is a sensor on it's way out, but hasn't yet gotten to the point where it is reading outside the limits that the ECU will throw a fault code out.
Any other ideas?
Cheers,
J
