Back Again, P1521
So my car has another fault which i have tried the simple fixes but nothing has worked. when i drive the car from cold its fine, once its warmed up, as long as i keep driving i have no issues, it only seems to be when its sat idling or when i turn it off and try restart before it has had a chance to go cold it seems to misfire and stall. i got the error code P1521. i found this points me to the vvc solenoids which i havent tried replacing yet but i think it where im heading next. if i leave the car to go completely cold aka overnight then it starts fine and i have no problems.
i have changed coil packs and leads, plugs, fuel filter, cleaned all the contacts on idle control valve, throttle position sensor, oil sensor on HCU as well as the solenoids attached and i have also checked the resistances of these when cold and i found nothing that would cause concern.
Im a bit stuck as where to go next without changing the solenoids. i know my vvc mech is timed up correctly as ive done that myself with the help of the rave manual. i cant find any relation to p1521 in the rave manual and im getting fed up of throwing money at it replacing perfectly good parts.
its a ZR 160 vvc
other than this problem its power is there and there is no restriction on the rev range, it seems to be something heat related but its alot harder to test stuff when the car is hot so i havent done any test in these conditions and when i have had it plugged into my diagnostics i see no problems when the car is running, no signs of HGF or anything like that, no coolant loss, slight oil leak but thats standard lol
can anyone please try and shed some light on this as im starting to look at getting a new engine as ive seen 2 people with the same problem but they found no solution other than an engine swap, but my ecu has been remapped so ideally i dont want to be swapping the engine unless id still be able to keep the ecu?
