Back on road again.
My VVC MGF developed a split in the Y shaped hose that fits to the engine, heater and underfloor pipe, steam shot out for the underneath, luckily it happened near home. Ordered the new hose, but what with one thing and another, that was a month ago. Yesterday, I bit the bullet jacked up Madgicals, managed to get all the clips undone, and gently teased it apart as I didn't want to damaged the small rubber heater hose it fits to. The engine and under-floor pipes are mental, so they just came off with some wiggling. Most of the coolant had already drained out from madgicals just sitting. Cleaned up all around the pipes and gently fitted the new hose and put on 3 new clips. My temperature gauge had never worked so replaced that as well. Filled the system with new coolant OAT- of course and bled the system as per the how to instructions- Thanks guys. It's very reassuring to follow well written instructions with pictures. I also swapped the old plastic sticking throttle body with a secondhand alloy one and put the throttle position sensor from the plastic one onto the alloy one. Started her up and all is well, coolant circulating, no leaks, temperature gauge working and no sticking throttle. Went for a short run, checked the coolant, all fine. Marvelous!
