Central locking died..immob has cut in?

hi all



Annoying problem has reared its head this morning - Went to jump in the car to head to work and I turn the ignition on and I get an alarm going off in the centre console?



I turn the key to start position and nothing happens except dimming of the centre console lights...It sounds to me like an immobiliser alarm...



Ive had a small issue for a couple of months now with the central locking intermittently working off the key fob, and sometimes have to lock with the key. This morning the key fob isn't working at all...is it a dead battery in the fob meaning the immobiliser thing isn't reading the key fob?



Got the day off to fix it. Its a 2004 MG ZS td by the way.
