Central Locking....Does anybody have a definitive answer?
I know there are loads of different posts on here about this but I'm trying to find out if anybody knows for sure because I am getting so much conflicting information.
I have a 54 reg TF 115. No central locking. I've been told that I have to fit new central locking motors (which I've done) and then have it re-programmed to enable the central locking to work.
I've been to two different garages that said they could do it but when it came down to it one didn't have the correct software to get into control unit and the other one's diagnostic equipment wouldn't even communicate with my vehicle.
I've also been told by an ex MG mechanic that some of these came out of the factory already working - just plug in the motors and away you go and some didn't which would need re-programming.
So this morning I rang the MGOC workshop at Swavesy and the chap I spoke to on the phone said that there is no way it can be done as the BCU won't even have the correct relay soldered onto the circuit board. Now, I would've thought that if anybody should know they would, but, after searching on the interweb I have found numerous posts on different sites saying that yes it can be done.
With that in mind does anybody know who or where would have the correct diagnostic tools and knowledge to do this? (I'm based in North Cambridgeshire).
Sorry for the long post folks
Steve
