New arrival - which way should it go?

My second MG, this time a 2002 MG TF 160 in Le Mans Greens.

Bought from T-Bar member Bugsy. (here was his post)

Initial impressions

The Good:

160 bhp Low mileage engine with new head gasket, dowels, water pump and ancillary belts.

New clutch pressure plate and thrust bearing.

Black leather seats and arm rest in very good condition.

Interior; carpets, center console, door cards, etc all in good condition.

4 Pot AP Racing calipers on the front.

Beautiful Green soft top in fantastic condition with a clear rear screen which looks like it has recently been changed.

Boot lid and bonnet in good condition.

11 Spoke 16" alloys, with three good tyres, one on limit. All wheels have some kerbing and need refurb.

Headlights, rear lights and side indicators all in perfect condition.

The Bad and The Ugly;

Recent MOT fail refusal sheet lists just five items

1 Nearside headlamp beam incorrect

2 Offside front suspension arm corroded and seriously weakened

3 Exhaust has a major leak (could just be flexi pipe - will check out tomorrow)

4 Nearside front suspension has excessive play in a upper wishbone bearing

5 Nearside front suspension component mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded.

There is a fault with the electric windows.

Bodywork; unfortunately this is where the car is let down most. It looks like someone has very amateurishly gone around the Le Mans Green car and tried touching it up with a spray can of British Racing Green! There is a dent to the nearside front sill. There is slight damage to the front bumper as does one corner of the the rear bumper. The wheel arches need tidying up too. First impression is that although the body looks straight and is in reasonable condition, it will need a full respray (minus bonnet and bootlid) to bring it up to a standard I would want if I was going to keep it. :(

So which way should it go?

1 - Repair the car and spray job ... have thought maybe a vinyl wrap would work out cheaper or even plastidip DIY job?

2 - Strip - sell Engine / gearbox complete with MEMS 3 ECU and loom. sell the softop, lights and other bits and bobs then weigh in the shell for scrap. Keeping the leather seats, carpets, alloys and AP Racing brakes and putting them on my F.

3 - :help: Any suggestions people?

What would you do?

I will get a chance tomorrow to jack it up and take a good look at the underside, the MOT failure items and the rest of the car to be able to better assess my options.
