Clutch problem

Recently the clutch went straight to the floor whilst stuck in traffic. Luckily I was near home so managed to crunch it into 2nd and get back. Garage had it up on the ramp and said it looked fine, no leaks. He was able to put his foot under the clutch and pull it up and it's been working fine since but I fear it could happen again soon. He did confirm it was a 'gearbox out' job if they were to inspect it but labour would probably be more than I paid for the car. Any ideas what it could be? Clutch and master were changed 20k ago.

The gear changes can be quite crunchy sometimes, quite the opposite to my smooth ZS 'box.
