Greetings from foreign parts - and compatibilty 25/200 question

And forgive me for asking a question here, I'm not a frequent web forum user and I can't figure how else to start a new thread. I know, it's amazing I can dress myself in the mornings...



I have a Rover 25 '01 which seems to have a solenoid related issue - in that the starter is new (old one was shot, well it had a huge piece missing so could well have been), the fuel pump seems to run fine, but when I turn the key - nada. When I do start the car (courtesy of the wire my local French mechanic temporarily ran to reach the battery), it runs fine apart from what sometimes feels like mildly fuel-starved bunny-hopping. Previous mechanic in Scotland blamed solenoid but couldn't be arsed to change it (him not me).



The ACTUAL question is, assuming the solenoid is the culprit - will one from a Rover 220 fit my car? Local scrappy has one available, but before we do traipsing and dismantling, I hoped someone here might know 100%.



Those with the power can shove this thread where it should go, but anyone able to answer asap will be saving my currently sweaty bacon.
