My new MG ZR - Few problems already :(
Well the old Rover 25 finally gave up the other week after the VP30 fuel pump had packed up and the front brakes needed changing and after working out the cost and what I've already spent I decided to get myself a new MG ZR 2.0 Diesel MK2 with only 60k on the clock.
I have noticed a few faults on the car to begin with that are simple fixes such as the rear wiper washer not working and the interior clock and a couple other interior fixings that need tweaking.
However I am a little concerned over two faults I have found on the car. The first one being that the Headlamps are in a bad condition with frosting on the interior of the headlamp which I am assuming is a seal maybe and I'm not sure if this is related or not but the switch to the lower right of the drivers side doesn't work to adjust the position of the headlight beam either up or down.
The main issue I have is when driving after about 20 minutes the temp gauge seems to sit just under 3/4 of the way which seems a little high for me and when checking under the bonnet the plastic engine cover is extremely hot and I'm not too sure what this is. I notice also that when stopping at junctions when slowing down mainly to 2nd gear at a slow speed the car judders as if it is going to stall but then it pulls of fine and drives nice and sound.
Any chance the juddering on the car may be related to the overheating? I have checked the coolant level and it's fine showing no leaks and not going down at all. I don't think the car has SDI injectors fitted which I have read these can cause the juddering problem as the performance is similar to my Rover 25 as its a 101 not a 115 MG ZR.
My car certainly was the lower spec model as it doesn't have those lovely 17" 15 spoke alloys I wanted it only has the 16" alloys and also the wing mirrors are manual adjustment and I have no sunroof or air conditioning !! I'm not too bothered about air conditioning or the sunroof as it is a nice car and ill post some pictures up later. It's quite possible the car may belong to a member on here who part exchanged it in at the garage :)
I would appreciate any help or input on the above please :)
