And people talk about K Series head gasket!!!

My son and I were looking for a project car to have a bit of fun on track days and have all of the following:-



More than 200hp

Rear wheel drive

Sporty handling

Cheap



We found a 06 RX8 231 on Gumtree and the guy was only looking £650 for it so we went for a look, bought it for £550, had it shipped home on a break down truck (engine problems) and started work.

A few days later we had the engine out and another few days later had it stripped.

Oh dear! 2/3rds of the engine is toast. Looks like the tip seals have disintegrated on the rear rotor destroying the rear plate, rotor housing, rotor and middle plate. Now we're looking for a replacement engine or parts, even if we get the bits cheap (under £400) to rebuild it a seal kit is £750.

Needless to say we are considering all options but with prices like those I'll take a blown head gasket any day.

Not too worried as it is worth what we paid in parts alone but I'll never complain about the K series again.
