Cambelt Change, now have strange sound...
Hi All,
Basically, waterpump was leaking, step-cousin changed it along with the cambelt (including new tensioner). Car seems fine, not losing any coolant, but it now has an odd whine noise when driving!
It sounds almost like an "eletrical" whine, and it occurs when stationary and I rev the car (Only upto 2k and its noticeable).
When actually driving at motorway speeds its not as noticeable but I can still faintly hear it (over the road noise and music :p), but at lower speeds especially from pulling away its very noticeable.
It's made my ZR sound like its an electric buggy! :(
Any thoughts?
I've covered over 100 miles already since the cambelt change. Is it something that could have happened during the change? Could it need "bedding in"? Alternatively, is it just a coincidence?
I have a faint idea that it was emitting a slight whine BEFORE the change, but it certainly wasn't as noticeable as it now is if it was. I would liken it to the "Mini" whine, so it makes me worry its the Power Steering?
