Headlight dilemma

I need to change the main headlight bulbs on my '53 plate 45. According to the owners manual, Haynes workshop manual and the automatic checker on the suppliers website, these are supposed to be H1 bulbs. When I finally got the old bulbs out, after much struggling and skinned knuckles, they turned out to be H7s. Has anyone else come across this? The dip beams are supposed to be H7s, so I wonder what I will find when I come to change those. H3s at this rate.
