MG ZS L Series Diesel Pump
Trying to tick off the few remaining issues with my ZS.
When driving it feels like something is holding it back around the 2.5k/3k rev range, however if you properly plant the accelerator in 3rd,4th,5th the revs slip and a tonne of black smoke flys out the back.
steve-45 has managed to identify the only fault code the car has, which is P1688, Steve listed as "Metering Oil Pump Stepping Motor Circuit Malfunction"
Now it's had this fault code for the best part of 6 months, at least. It's my daily drive and the fault doesn't really affect driving, it's more a niggle i know is there and its slightly down on power. Is anybody in the know with regards to the pumps as i'm after some advice, as to whether the circuit for the pump can be repaired/replaced or whether a new pump is needed.
If the latter a recon pump is around the £680 mark... So thinking cheaper am i able to get one from the scrappers to get bolted on? Or will it need to be coded or timed prior to removal? How about an after market/uprated pump? Or is recon/new my only way to resolve this issue?
Thanks in advance for any help!
