MGTF Dealer's Guarantee

Having read posts and seen some horror pics, I am now considering buying a 03-05 TF from a specialist dealer in Peterborough who has a round 30 TFs for sale. He prepares them to the highest standards and always fits a multi-layer head gasket, grinds the head and lengthens bolts etc. The cars are about £1000 to £1500 ( prices are £2500-£4000) more expensive than private sales on Ebay but you get 12 months' guarantee. But TFs can be bought for £1000 - is it a false economy to buy on Ebay or should I bite the bullet and buy a fully sorted (HG/Cam belt/ss pipes etc. with a 12 month guarantee?

It seems that even those who are mechanically savvy on here spend a fortune trying to solve problems and suffer on going problems rather than simply enjoying driving their TFs (I fully appreciate that repairing the cars is part of the 'pleasure' of owning a special car). I'm not mechanically savvy and whilst I can do simple jobs myself, mostly I would use a specialist garage to do my repairs.

Has anyone bought a fully sorted but expensive guaranteed car? Did the guarantee work?
