Rover 75 Wing mirror repair info

For the second time the drivers side wing mirror has been broken off when the car collided with a car park pillar. The last time I ordered a new replacement from Rimmers but noticed when searching the forum that somebody had used a repair that used a long bolt and 2 penny washers to reattach the mirror through the hinge tubing. This time, more body damage has been done so I need to find that post again as I need a temporary fix whilst waiting for the insurance claim to be settled. Can someone point me to the post as I can't find it by searching the forum.
