Why have tyre prices suddenly shot up?

Due to the worn rear bushes and the damaged rear mounts on the front sub frame the tracking on the VVC has been out. This has resulted in uneven tyre wear with wear to the inner edge of the rear tyres although there is plenty of tread on the rest of the tyre.



So have been checking tyre prices for the 16" LE Multispoke wheels and boy have prices gone up :crying:



Now I know that everyone, well almost everyone says fit Toyos but are they really any good in the wet and cold? For some reason that bit never seems to get mentioned and the tyre label only shows "E" for wet performance which is poor and as I use the MGF all year around this is of some importance



Currently she is wearing 215/40/16's all round but is it advisable to change to 195's on the front or stick with the 215's all round?



Due to MOT expenditure new tyres will have to wait util October probably but with prices seemingly climbing is that a good idea?
