Hesitant misfire

Hi, my nephews MGTF (44,000 miles) has been stood waiting for test and repairs for 8 months. All clean and sorted but now has hesitant misfire at 3,000 revs.

Changed plugs leads oil filters etc.

Suspect coil.

Have substituted another coil and swapped around but it still comes back.

(My spare coil may also be dodgy). Will get another coil but is there something else I should check. Sensors etc.

Engine light was on but fault reader erased and is not now showing any codes.



What is the procedure for throttle reset and why is this sometimes necessary?

Tank full of clean petrol might help as it is running on last teaspoon of old fuel.
