Met a pleasant lady MGF driver yesterday
There was a knock on the back door yesterday afternoon so answered it to find a lady unknown to us there. Seems she has taken over a MGF VVC that has been stood for two years and could not get the soft top down, yes it's the normal issue with it, could I have a look as she had seen the MGF outside when passing.
Of course no problem so out we went and I showed her what the issue is and how to put the top down. The MGF is actually is rather good condition but needs a bit of TLC and a very good clean. Plus a service especially and an oil change.
In the past the normal"Muppet type" tyre "fitter" had mullered the locking nuts so found some normal replacements and popped them on. However one is well and truly butchered and it's TIGHT, need a suitable sized Irwin type socket to get that off which I don't have.
When looking it over and explaining the importance of checking coolant level and oil level noticed a set of jump leans where the jack etc should be so once I find the black plastic "bag" for them have said she can have the ones from the donor VVC as after all I don't need three MGF jacks. She noticed the tonneau cover in the boot of "Elsie" and mentioned she had not got one. Well there is the Black one off the donor so said I would show her how they fit. Ahhhh problem the studs on the T-Bar are missing. So later on had a look and found the spares in the garage. Now just have to locate the under bonnet light switch as have already taken that off the donor.
The body work on her VVC is in quite goof condition with only slight bubbling at the bumper joint on the N/S/F wing. Have suggested that she goes along tot eh local MGCC/MGOC monthly meeting at the Admiral Nelson at Bennington mean while I shall help her as best that I can. The oil and filter changes is a must to be done soon so have said I will do it for her. Due to being between jobs right now money is of course tight........................... a feeling I know only too well from the past. So I am sure I can spare a bit of time and some bits that would have most likely ended up in the scrap.
It's nice to meet a pleasant lady MGF driver and she has already shown her thanks with a couple of jars of home made Jam.
