new headlining
Bit the bullet today and decided to re do the headlining on my restoration Rover 75.
Managed to get some foam back nylon called "beige"that matched spot on to the Sandstone beige. Need about 1.7 metres minimum for the head lining.
If you take off all the grab handles, front and back interior lights, sunvisors, pull the door rubbers down about half way, take the top of the "b" pillars off, it comes out pretty easy via the front passenger door.
Noticed a couple of interesting things, one of the sun roof drain tubes was not even connected (looks like its been like that since being built as the pipe was just short of connecting)
Never noticed anywater in the car so can' t figure that one out.
Noticed a large capacitor glued to the headliner board which seems to go to the rear roof light setup ? Not sure why thats there.
There are two clips attached (glued) to the headliner about 5" either side of the top brake light which holds up the rear of the headliner. These had become detached so needed to be re glued to the board using high temp glue.
Apart from cleaning off all the old crumbly foam and glue, the hardest thing was to lay the newly glued nylon out evenly onto the head board.
I would recommend having a helper when laying the nylon down.
In the end, it came out really well like a new one !!!
