Rover 45 compression loss 1.6L
Well the mechanic just phoned and it seems that the reason for running really rough is loss of compression on cylinders 2 & 3. Just before we bought it the cam belt was replaced along with water pump so it seems they got it horribly wrong.
Meanwhile he is removing the head to see just how bad it is. Looks like finding replacement head will be the cheapest option here. Not sure one can be had locally as already ran Windleys and they want £84 for one and am not sure how good that is until we go take a look. local is a bit misleading too as Windleys is about a 70 mile round trip.
The 45 "Impression" is the twin coil under the engine cover type.
