Fuel pump buzzing after diesel filter change - Air lock?

Hi all,

I've tried searching the forum and have found a few people with this problem but can't find the solution!

I serviced my 75 CDT last weekend, including a fuel filter change. I primed the filter after fitting by running the pump (ignition on but not starting) for a while. The car started without any bother and has continued to run fine since.

However, the under-bonnet fuel pump is continuing to run noisily at all times (can be heard over the idling engine if you listen hard enough). Prior to the filter change, it ran quietly for 20-30 seconds then became inaudible.

It seems there's air stuck in the system somewhere. Has anyone experienced this (and solved it!)? The car has driven over 200 miles since the service, including country roads and fast motorway driving, so I think if it was going to sort itself out it would have by now.

During the service, I replaced the PCV filter, which involved removing the "T-pieces" for the leak-back pipes from injectors 2 and 3. I'm wondering if a problem here is letting air into the system?

Any advice very welcome!
