ZT 160 v MG6 160 MPG

Does the 1.8 Turbo in the 6 achieve better mpg than the 1.8T in the ZT? Only reason I ask is I get about 34 mpg in the ZT on a long run at about 65mph, but I hear of people getting low to mid 40's in the MG6.

Apart from solving head gasket issues, did MG do any other work to improve mpg? I'm considering a 6 next year but trying to weigh up petrol v diesel.
