Another mystery coolant loss - 45 diesel
I know there are quite a few similar threads on this topic but I thought I'd share my troubles and seek advice.
My 45 Impression diesel has been loosing coolant for some months now.
It's gradually got worse over this time. Recently it was up to about a pint a week, but now it seems to be getting even worse (perhaps after adding anti-freeze?).
No signs of a leak (had hoped the antifreeze would show up), it starts and runs absolutely fine, no oil in the water or water in the oil as far as I can tell.
I travel about 40 miles a day, half of which is in rush hour traffic crawling along.
Some days it doesn't appear to lose anything looking at the expansion tank, others it drops noticeably.
I've changed the cap without any improvement.
I do have a new water pump which I'll probably change over Christmas but I can't see any loss of water around it.
Do the diesels have the same inlet manifold gasket leakage problems as the K-series?
I haven't removed the large cover under the engine, I guess this might help pinpoint it.
Just wondered if there are any 'hidden' places to check that might be the culprit?
Cheers
