I did it! Personal achievement unlocked!
id say ive done a fair bit on my tf but its all been kinda easy stuff, nothing to mechanical, nothing too difficult. had a fear of big bolts basically and the fear of not knowing how to get them undone, what to do when they shear etc.
but today no more! today i replaced the engine o/s upper engine mount with one i bought for a landrover k-series, its the same part but over 50% cheaper.
anywayz it took all day but with lots of plusgas and heat everything came out without any damage and again went back in without any damage at all - threads all cleaned and greased when puttig back in.
really really mucky job and a bit of a pain to line up the engine but all done!
anyway thats it realy, really pleased it was done and it went ok. only problem was the single nut on the mount itself is made of cheese and so just got damaged so much i couldnt get it off; took out the entire mount with it attached and walked to the nearest garage whom gave me not only a replacement nut but they also worked off the rounded nut for me! and the surprise here is....it was kwik-fit!
