"Mayo" on dipstick - sign of impending HGF?
Morning all,
I would be grateful for your thoughts please - I've just checked the oil on my 1998 MGF VVC and found a small blob of what looks like mayo or butter on the end of the dipstick (assuming it is not ACTUALLY mayo or butter!)
Is this a sure sign that the head gasket is about to fail?
The car has done 105,000 miles and I had the head gasket professionally replaced 3 years ago at 95,000 miles when I bought the car. The multi-layer steel gasket was fitted. The car doesn't use any oil or water, the coolant is clean and the exhaust doesn't smoke. Oil and coolant were change approx 6 months/1,000 miles ago.
Any ideas please? Is this anything to worry about, or just a case of "wait and see"?
Thanks, Steve.
