Radio Stopped working..

...was working fine when I parked up at the end of last week. Got in it Saturday and nothing. No sound, even the panel isnt lit, but the orange glow around the two circular buttons is there. Checked the fuse under the dash, thats ok. Swapped the head unit out for two others, both did the same, no sound, no panel lit but the lights surrounding the control buttons come on. Got me properly stumped this one...

Oh, this in in the 1993 Sterling fastback, if it makes any difference.
