zr 160 with sticking clutch peddle and slipping clut h

Hi all. Im new to the mg rover scene.

ive just bought a zr160 and its a lovely project but i need help. The clutch pedal is sticking when pushed down and the clutch is slipping a little when trying to drive. I have seen that the cable gets sticky anx or stretched and the clutch fork shafts corrode but ive not seen the symptoms mixed together. Whats my best plan of attack?? Cable and lube the pedal hinge shaft?? Or am i looking at a lot more work??
