216 SLi Overheating

I haven't been on these forums in quite a while now as the car had been passed on to a family member. They haven't really had any trouble with the car. However that has changed recently.

It is a 216 SLi With a SOHC Honda engine.

Once started, the temperature gauge will start to climb way up after about 5 minutes of idling.

The hoses which run to the radiator seem to be cold, so it seems that the coolant isn't flowing. There seems to be plenty in the tank.

Is this likely that the thermostat has had it?

The family member calle dout the RAC when this first happened, they tried bleeding the cooling system. Their opinion was that the thermostat was faulty.

Thanks for any info.
