Dead ZS - alternator?

Morning all,



Driving to work this morning, I noticed a high pitched whistle that increased in pitch with the revs under acceleration. The noise got more noticeable and then the electrics started playing up. Radio turning off and on, odometer back light flickering and dimming and headlights dimming if I touched any switches etc. Got it on to the work car park and switched off and it's now dead. Not even enough power to lock it and the dash doesn't even light up when I turn the key, let alone start.



Do we think alternator or battery? I was surprised the red battery warning light didn't show? I've only just put the ZS through its MOT and the garage did take the battery out to reseat it, so could it be a dodgy earthing connection?



Any ideas?
