1.8 VVC engine won't start after running lumpy.
My Mini with a 1.8 VVC engine from a Rover Vi won't start after running lumpy. It has been gradually getting worse over last month. It would run fine for a while then lumpy for a few seconds then ok again. Not like a regular misfire. I've had new spark plugs and head gasket was replaced last year.
I'm thinking of replacing the crankshaft sensor as there has been a oil leak from here for a while.
I went to a garage but they just said get new HT leads. The engine would run if one wasn't working at all so not convinced of this.
Does anyone else think I'm going in the right direction? If not any other ideas where to look are welcome.
I cannot use the diagnostic socket as it's not wired up properly. Plus it's a MEMS 1.9 so not easy to get a reader.
