Central locking issue
May I first say hi my name is Sam and I am new to these forums. I have had a search for a solution to my problem on here first but none seem to work.
I have a reasonable mechanical knowledge and always try to find the answer before asking others so go easy on me guys :P
Basically I have a rover 25 (2000) 5 door and there is an issue with the central locking and radio.
the alarm functions properly and activates/deactivates when the drivers side door is locked. It can also be controlled form the key fob. The problem is that none of the other door locks work and must be manually locked/unlocked.
There is also an issue that the only speaker that works is also the one in the drives side door and so it suggests to me the the other doors are not getting any electrical power.
I also had an issue with the radio, clock and boot warning light not working when the interior light was switched on or one of the doors was open, this was looked at by an auto electrician (for a hefty sum) and he found that the boot wiring loom was faulty and a fuse had blown. he sorted this and it all worked fine however now my brake lights also dont work ....
Also when i put on the rear heated windscreen my interior light dimms slightly.
Anyway back to the locking, so I thought it may be the 5AS box as others have pointed out on these forums but i managed to take it out and the circuits were all in good condition. I can put up photos including that of the code on the box if that helps.
I haven't managed to see if all the fuses were in good condition as its hard to see but if anyone could point me to which ones i should be checking that would be great.
Finally I have a different key for the drivers side door than all the other locks/ignition. So this could indicate a new lock and possible new door (although the registration on the glass matches the car)
I have tried to include as much info as possible and your help would be great guys.
I live in Bristol so if anyone local wanted to have a physical look I would be more than happy to drive to them !
Cheers guys!
