Dreaded electical gremlin

Hello, I have odd electrics and I really want to try and sort them out. For quite some time the rear wiper has had a mind of its own, very rarely turning on when I start the car and no amount of playing with the switch will stop it. I have to turn the car off and on a few times before it stops. I never use the rear wiper so this was sorted by removing the rear wiper relay.

Now a new problem has reared its head and the MOT is looming in April. The fog lights do not always work. I tried a different good switch, have checked fuses but am unsure if there is a relay for the them....but here comes the really odd part of the problem. The other day, I went to start the car and as I turned the ignition on, the rear fogs were on (without the headlights and I couldn't turn them off with the switch) and the front wipers were going. After a few on/offs of the ignition they began behaving again. I have order myself a haynes manual to start tracing cables and hopefully see a point where the circuits cross and I can fix this problem.

Have any of you seen or heard of this before? Will it just be easier to wire my own circuit for the fogs and fit a new switch?

I have had a 9 year love affair with this car and I am getting to the stage where I may have to part with her but if I can get her all fixed up then hopefully my loyalty will return and I'll stop worrying about breaking down on some dark lonely road somewhere....

Any help will be much appreciated, any suggestions will be tried as soon as possible work/baby allowing :)

Thank you,

Gareth
