MG TF 120 Wont Start
Hi All,
I have a 2004 MG TF 120 Stepspeed, i had to remove the dash fascia to change my front fog lamp switch from the MGF one fitted by previous owner and wired in terribly to a proper TF one, i had to remove the gear selector knob and unplug the illuminated gear indicator to get clearance for the fascia to pull away enough to get my hand under there,
anyway upon putting everything back the car will not recognise Park or Neutral, so it wont start, it still lights up red on P or N on the illuminated gear indicator but in the actual display by the odometer it will just be blank if in P or N but will display D or R,
also there is no resistance when pushing or pulling the gear selector it just goes all the way through PRND with no notches or without stopping it will only strop when moving from R to P as there is a physical metal step which stops the selector moving unless you squeeze the trigger.
any help will be greatly appreciated I'm already trying to sort out an electrical fault with the gear box stepper motor but now the car wont start at all I'm totally stuffed just lucky its my weekend toy and not the daily driver
Many Thanks
Martin
